Abstract

As part of the Universal Health Coverage strategy and in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Alma-Ata’s Declaration on Primary Health Care and the Astana Declaration in 2018, Directorate for Health Research launched the Request for Applications (RFA) for Research Projects “Salud Investiga 2019- 2020”. This RFA funded projects on thematic areas prioritized by directorates and programs of the Health Government Secretariat, in order to generate scientific evidence for decision making by health teams and health authorities. Researchers from public or private non-profit entities were invited to submit 2-year projects for up to $2,000,000 each. 117 projects were submitted and 25 were selected to receive funding after different evaluation stages. The selected projects will involve 183 researchers, 75% are women, 35% are from research institutions and 29% from hospital institutions. 58% of this researchers work in the public sector.
